Course Information

In the words of Mark Twain, humans are meant to “explore, dream, discover.” Students in this intensive writing course draw from that ideal to explore Washington, DC, beyond its well-known treasures and locate undiscovered inspiration.

Through short readings, regular on-site writing, and in-class exercises, students analyze the voices of travel writers and work to find and establish their own. In addition, students create and contribute to a travel blog, as well as participate in a public reading of their work. Laptops and digital cameras are suggested.
